We’re still buzzing with excitement from September 19th and the spectacular 23rd Annual Women Honoring Women event! It was a true celebration of our incredible 2024 Honorees, and we can’t help but feel grateful for the joy and inspiration that filled the room. The past six months leading up to this event have been a whirlwind of positivity and fun. We have had an absolute blast getting to know these five remarkable women and the phenomenal work they do in our community. We consider ourselves lucky, and if you were in attendance, we hope you caught a glimpse of their brilliance! The WEDC Foundation hosted the 23rd Annual Women Honoring
Women signature fundraising event on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
Women Honoring Women (WHW), presented by Woody Anderson Ford, recognizes local women as Honorees who continue to impact our community and serve as an inspiration to others.
This year’s Honorees are KC Bertling, President of the North Alabama Veterans & Fraternal Organizations Coalition; Ruchi Gupta Singhal, Senior Program Manager, Tennessee Valley Authority; Michelle Novosel, Co-Owner & Executive Chocolatier, Pizzelle’s Chocolates; JoAnn M. Perez, Attorney and Owner, Perez Law, P.C.; and Ina Wilson Smith, Compliance Coordinator and Administrator, Huntsville City Schools. Chairing the event this year is Lauren Smith with Leidos, and WAAY31’s Marie Waxel is the Mistress of Ceremonies.
The WHW Event was held at the Von Braun Center in the Saturn Ballroom, with doors opening at 5pm and the event beginning at 6pm.
"S3 is honored to support the WEDC Foundation in their mission to empower women in North Alabama to obtain a better life by investing in the pursuit of higher education through financial assistance, mentoring, and professional development,” says Jan Smith, CEO of S3, a WHW Event Sponsor. “We stand with the Foundation in support of their scholars so that they may achieve economic independence and have the opportunity to contribute to the economic development of our community.”
For the fourth year in a row, the VIP Party Sponsor is Redstone Federal Credit Union, which will occur before the event.
Thanks to the inspiration of our Honorees, the dedication of our amazing volunteers, and the generosity of our sponsors and guests, we made a powerful impact for our scholars. We are thrilled to announce that we raised over $204,000 to support the WEDC Foundation’s mission in 2025 and empower women scholars in North Alabama! To all who joined us, thank you for bringing your fantastic energy and for sharing the inspiration you felt last Thursday with everyone around you!
Save the date for 2025! Women Honoring Women will be on September 18th.
